Refrigerator and freezer temperature monitoring
A small stainless probe goes into the cabinet, the controller stays outside and reports over cellular. Every fridge and freezer gets its own range, and the moment a reading leaves it an alert goes out. The record lives in the cloud and exports for an inspection in one click, with no log sheet and no morning round with a thermometer.
What goes in the cabinet and what stays out
Probe inside, controller outside. A closed metal door cuts nothing off.
The compressor stops at two in the morning
A fridge that fails after closing is found in the morning, when the stock is already unusable. The alert goes out on the first reading that leaves the range, and the reporting interval is yours to set, down to one minute. There is time to move the goods to another fridge before calling the technician.
A defrost is not a fault
Each cabinet gets a range and an allowed excursion duration. An automatic defrost cycle or a door held open for ten minutes stays within the allowed duration and raises no alert. A rise that outlasts it does, and only that one.
Four cabinets on one controller
One Omni Genesis controller on the wall, four probes wired to it: the freezer, the prep fridge and two display fridges. The controller runs on a rechargeable battery and reports over cellular, so it depends neither on a free socket nor on the site's Wi-Fi.
The record replaces the form
Every reading is stored with a timestamp, per cabinet. Before an inspection you export the history to an Excel file and hand it over in place of the log sheets. For anyone still writing by hand, a printable temperature log form.
How refrigerator temperature monitoring is installed
Four steps, no electrician.
- 01
A probe inside the cabinet
A sealed stainless temperature probe (IP68) goes into the cabinet, and the thin cable passes through the door seal without damaging it. It measures from -55 to +125°C, so the same probe serves the freezer and the fridge. For a cabinet where humidity matters too, such as a ripening fridge, the temperature and humidity sensor fits.
- 02
A controller on the wall, outside the cabinet
The Omni Genesis controller hangs next to the fridges and takes up to four probes. It runs on a rechargeable battery, connects to a power adapter where a socket exists, and reports over Wi-Fi or 4G-LTE with a SIM included in the subscription. Wi-Fi is an option, not a requirement.
- 03
A range for every fridge
On the dashboard each probe gets a name, a minimum, a maximum and an allowed excursion duration. Freezer below -18°C, dairy fridge between 0 and 4, display fridge up to 5. The reporting interval is set per controller, from one minute up.
- 04
Alert and record
A reading outside the range for longer than the allowed duration sends an alert by SMS, email, phone call or push notification to every user on the account. The history of each cabinet is stored in the cloud and exports to Excel for an inspection.
For record-keeping requirements and storage temperatures by food type, see the guide to temperature monitoring for food safety and HACCP.
Wireless temperature monitoring that does not lean on the site's Wi-Fi
Many wireless temperature monitoring systems ride on the site's router. When it is rebooted, fails or gets replaced, monitoring disappears with it, and on the exact night it happens nobody notices. The Agrinovo controller reports over the cellular network with a SIM included in the cloud subscription, and runs on a rechargeable battery. A power outage in the kitchen stops neither the measurement, nor the record, nor the alerts.
The only wired part is the probe itself, from the cabinet to the controller on the wall beside it. A wired connection inside a closed metal cabinet is more reliable than any transmitter trying to broadcast through a freezer door.
Where it is installed
Same probes, same controller, different ranges.
Restaurants and cafes
Freezer, prep fridge and dairy fridge on one controller. An automatic record in place of the log sheet taped to the fridge.
Supermarkets and grocers
Open display fridges and display freezers, where an open door and lighting move the temperature through the day. The history shows when.
Institutional kitchens and catering
Care homes, nurseries and schools, where the inspector asks for a record per fridge. Export to Excel by period.
Chains with several sites
All sites in one account, each site a separate location on the dashboard, and view or edit permissions per user, per screen.
