The DEN-100 is a rugged, fully integrated insertion-type density and concentration meter. An acoustic excitation source drives a metal tuning fork at its free-oscillation centre frequency; the frequency shifts in proportion to the density of the liquid in contact with the fork. An integrated PT100 compensates for process-temperature drift, and concentration values are derived from the density relationship at 20 °C. The result is a continuous, real-time inline density measurement with no moving parts, no optics to foul, and essentially zero routine maintenance.
Key Features
- Tuning Fork Principle: No moving parts, no wear, no drift from mechanical fatigue
- Integrated Temperature Compensation: Built-in PT100 removes thermal drift automatically

- High Accuracy: ±0.003 g/cc calibrated accuracy across the 0.6–1.5 g/cc working band
- Dual Output Options: 4–20 mA (4-wire) or Modbus RS485 for direct controller integration
- Hazardous Area Certified: Ex d II BT6 Gb for installation in classified zones
- Broad Material Selection: 316L, Hastelloy C or Zirconium wetted parts for aggressive media
- Flexible Process Connections: Flange, tri-clamp or threaded; insertion lengths up to 2 m
Applications
- Concentration control of acids, alkalis and cleaning chemicals
- Brine and salinity monitoring in aquaculture and process water systems
- Fermentation and brewing concentration tracking
- Mass-flow computation when combined with volumetric flow metering
- Evaporator concentration control and batch-reaction end-point detection
- Interface detection in multi-product pipelines
- Dosing and blending control in chemical and process industries
Why Tuning Fork Density Measurement
Density is one of the most reliable proxies for liquid concentration, product grade and phase composition. Compared with sampling-based lab measurement, a continuous inline density reading:
- Eliminates sampling delay: process deviations are caught in seconds, not hours
- Removes operator variability: no manual dilution, no transcription errors
- Scales to automation: direct 4–20 mA or Modbus signal feeds controllers and SCADA without intermediate wiring
- Survives harsh media: no optics to foul and no delicate diaphragms to rupture
The tuning fork principle is particularly well suited to fluids that contain entrained solids or slight gas content — conditions that challenge Coriolis and vibrating-tube meters.
Installation and Process Integration
The DEN-100 installs directly into tanks, pipelines, bypass loops and reaction vessels. Standard configurations include:
- Open or closed tank mounting with flange, tri-clamp or threaded process connection
- Inline pipe installation for flow velocities of 0.3–0.5 m/s; higher velocities are accommodated with an expansion spool or T-sleeve
- Bypass loop mounting for main-pipe bores ≥150 mm
- Horizontal installation via side-opening flange (top openings are avoided to prevent gas pockets)
The wetted rod is available in 316L stainless, Hastelloy C or Zirconium to match the process chemistry — the Material Compatibility table in the datasheet covers the common acids, alkalis and other aggressive media.
Connectivity and Integration
Choose the output that matches your control architecture:
- 4–20 mA (4-wire): Simple analog loop for PLC, DCS and standalone indicators
- Modbus RS485: Digital integration with Agrinovo IoT controllers (Omni Genesis, Omni Exodus), SCADA systems and plant historians
The M20 × 1.5 electrical entry and Ex d II BT6 Gb certification make the DEN-100 suitable for installation in hazardous-area zones without external barriers.
Why Choose the DEN-100
- Continuous measurement replaces grab sampling and lab analysis
- No moving parts minimises maintenance and long-term drift
- Hazardous-area rated for installation in classified process environments
- Configurable wetted material matches aggressive media chemistry
- Dual output — analog or digital — integrates with any control system
- Modular and field-replaceable — insertion length and process connection specified at order
