Wireless temperature sensors and remote temperature monitoring

Agrinovo wireless temperature monitoring puts a sealed probe where the temperature matters, connects it to a battery-powered controller beside it, and sends every reading over the cellular network, with no Wi-Fi, gateway or power cable at the site.

What "wireless" should mean for a temperature sensor

Most wireless temperature sensors are wireless only as far as the nearest gateway or Wi-Fi router. That works in an office. It fails in a pump house, a field store, a greenhouse at the far end of a farm or a building with no network at all. Here the wireless link is the cellular network itself: each controller connects on its own wherever there is mobile coverage.

No Wi-Fi, no gateway, no router to restart

The Omni Genesis reports over 4G-LTE with a SIM included in the cloud subscription. Nothing on site has to stay connected for it to work, and a router being replaced or a password being changed does not silence it.

No power cable at the measuring point

The controller runs on rechargeable batteries and accepts a 6 to 32 V DC solar panel or a fixed DC supply on the same input. A site with no mains power is still a site you can monitor.

The probe is wired, the link is not

The sensor connects to the controller by a short cable, because a sealed probe inside a cold room, a tank or a cabinet reads more reliably than a radio inside metal walls. Everything from the controller onward is wireless.

Complete systems for this application

We connect the sensors to the controller and configure the dashboard and alerts before the system ships.

Cold room and refrigerator monitoring

Temperature readings from each fridge, freezer or cold room, an alert when one leaves its range, and a stored record for inspections.

What you get

  • Sensors: Temperature, and humidity where it matters, with the probe chosen for your range, from display fridge to freezer.
Controller:
Omni Genesis Lite for one fridge, Omni Genesis for up to four points, Omni Exodus or expansion for more.
Alerts:
A reading out of range for longer than the time you allow (a normal defrost cycle does not trigger one), and a disconnected probe.

What we do before and after delivery

  • We connect the sensors to the controller and register them before shipping.
  • We set up the dashboard and configure the alerts with you in the cloud. You can change them at any time.
  • The cloud subscription is included, with a cellular SIM on 4G controllers.
  • After delivery we hold a remote onboarding call. In Israel we also install on site.

Omni Genesis Lite takes one sensor, Omni Genesis four and Omni Exodus six. Expansion adds more. For anything not listed here, tell us what you need to measure and we will put the system together.

How a wireless temperature point is installed

  1. A probe where the temperature matters

A sealed stainless temperature probe (IP68, -55 to +125°C) for liquids, soil, product or a freezer, or a temperature and humidity sensor (-40 to +80°C, 0-100% RH) for air, with housings up to IP67.

  2. A controller beside it

The Omni Genesis takes up to four sensors on its four ports and reports over 4G-LTE. For a single point on a site with Wi-Fi, the Omni Genesis Lite takes one sensor and reports over Wi-Fi, with 4G-LTE available. Both are IP65 and rated for -20 to +70°C, so in a freezer the controller goes on the outside wall and only the probe goes in.

  3. A range and an allowed time for each point

On the dashboard each sensor gets a name, a minimum, a maximum and the time a reading may stay outside them before an alert opens, so a door opening or a defrost does not raise one.

For walk-in rooms with several points per room, see cold room temperature monitoring; for fridges and freezer cabinets, see refrigerator temperature monitoring. How to set limits and delays is covered in the guide to cold storage temperature alarms.

Remote monitoring: what you see and when you hear about it

Every point, every site, one account

Each sensor appears with its current reading, its range and its history, grouped by site. A farm, a chain of shops or a set of remote pump houses all sit on the same dashboard.

An alert that repeats until someone reads it

When a reading stays out of range longer than allowed, the users on the account get an app notification. It repeats every two hours by default until someone reads it, and a second notification follows when the reading is back in range. A sensor marked as critical comes through quiet hours.

Silence is treated as a fault

If a controller stops reporting, an offline alert opens, and a low battery alert comes before the batteries run down. The controller also stores readings locally and syncs them when the connection returns, so a coverage gap does not leave a hole in the history.

Where wireless temperature monitoring is installed

Remote and off-grid sites

Pump houses, field stores, water tanks and equipment rooms with no network and no mains power, on battery and a small solar panel.

Cold rooms and freezers

Probe inside, controller outside, reporting over cellular where metal-faced panels block Wi-Fi.

Greenhouses and livestock houses

Air temperature and humidity at crop or animal height, across buildings spread over a farm.

Pharmacy and laboratory fridges

A single fridge on a Genesis Lite, with the same alerts and history as a larger site.

Questions about wireless temperature monitoring

Does a wireless temperature sensor need Wi-Fi or a gateway?

Not with the Omni Genesis. It reports over 4G-LTE with a SIM included in the cloud subscription, so it needs mobile coverage at the site and nothing else. The Omni Genesis Lite reports over Wi-Fi by default, with 4G-LTE available, and suits a single point where a stable network already exists.

Is the sensor itself wireless?

The probe connects to the controller by a short cable, and the controller is the wireless part. A sealed probe inside a freezer, a tank or a metal cabinet gives a steadier reading than a radio trying to get out through metal, and one controller can read up to four sensors.

How is it powered where there is no electricity?

The controller runs on rechargeable batteries and accepts a 6 to 32 V DC solar panel on its power input, so it can run at a site with no mains supply. Where a DC supply is available, it uses the same input.

What happens when the mobile signal drops?

The controller keeps measuring and stores the readings locally, then syncs them to the cloud when the connection returns. If a controller stops reporting altogether, an offline alert opens on the account.

Who gets the alert, and how?

Every user on the account gets an app notification when a reading stays out of range longer than you allow. Each user can set quiet hours, and a sensor marked as critical comes through them. The alert repeats every two hours by default until someone reads it.
