Overview

The TVOC-100 is a digital indoor air quality sensor with an RS485 Modbus-RTU output. It measures total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) across 0-60000 ppb and reports equivalent CO2 (CO2eq), a 400-60000 ppm air quality index derived from the VOC signal. Both values arrive as simple Modbus registers over a single 4-wire connection, so one cable carries power and data.

The sensing element holds high accuracy and consistency across its full range, backed by strong interference immunity and built-in surge protection. Multiple sensors share one RS485 bus with cable runs up to 1200 m, which makes it practical to monitor several rooms, tunnels, or storage zones from a single controller.

What It Measures

TVOC is the combined concentration of volatile organic compounds in the air: off-gassing from plants and produce, ripening gases, cleaning agents, solvents, and combustion byproducts. Rising TVOC in a closed growing space or storage room is an early signal that ventilation is not keeping up.

CO2eq is an equivalent-CO2 value calculated from the VOC measurement. It tracks how stale the air is and works well for ventilation control and trend monitoring. For direct CO2 measurement, pair it with a dedicated CO2 sensor.

Installation

Mount the sensor indoors, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and cold sources, with free air movement around it. Keep it out of steam, mist, and condensing conditions, and clean it periodically in dusty spaces. Multiple sensors share one RS485 bus, each on its own Modbus address.

Connectivity and Integration

The RS485 Modbus-RTU output (9600 bps default, 8-N-1) connects directly to the Omni Genesis and Genesis Lite controllers and to any PLC or monitoring system that speaks Modbus. TVOC and CO2eq arrive as two adjacent registers in a single read, and device address and baud rate are configurable over the same bus. This is the same modular approach as the rest of the Agrinovo range: one controller, any mix of sensors.
